A figure of 8 around KILLINGTON RESERVOIR
16 miles (25 km). 1260' climb (385m). Grade - hard uphill, easy downhill.
A short summer's evening ride but hard enough to give a feeling of a good ride. Nice view from the top.

Start 150 yds/m uphill from the Leisure Centre by crossing the road via the pedestrian refuge onto the cycleway, following it to soon join Natland Road by K Shoes factory (recently demolished). Continue to Natland, soon reached.
There turn left by the shop (playground/width restriction sign), and right and left at the village green to go up Helm Lane by the church.
Cross straight over the main road into a small unsigned rising lane, at the end of which turn right past the Station Inn.
In 1½ miles (2+ km) in Old Hutton/Middleshaw turn left and follow the signs to Ewebank. There turn left and in 200 yds/m right up a steep hill, both turns unsigned. Continue to the top and over the motorway to the T-junction in 2½ miles (4 km).
Turn right (sign Old Hutton) and shortly take the first right (unsigned, small Bendrigg Lodge direction sign) by the reservoir, and then the next right in a mile (1½ km) - unsigned, but by a wood.
Continue back over the M6 and down the hill, to briefly rejoin the outward route, turning left and downhill where earlier you turned right and uphill.
At the junction past a small settlement bear left (unsigned) and then right in 200 yds/m (unsigned) up a small short hill. Quickly bear left at the next junction (unsigned) and left again in ¾ mile (1+ km) onto Beehive Lane, to return to your outward route.
There simply turn right and follow the road home down past the station, going straight on at the 2 sets of traffic lights in Kendal to quickly arrive back at the Leisure Centre.
